UDDI supports the current STAR requirements for a Registry. UDDI provides Service Registration and Discovery using a widely accepted, non-proprietary protocol. The use of UDDI is required by the WS-I Basic Profile. UDDI is capable of supporting the STAR requirements for Service Transparency, Location Transparency and Versioning.

UBR registries may be used to host STAR production Service Descriptions; and all information posted in the UBR should be considered public. Test registries may be used for development and prototyping.
